Heading level order and arrangement
Headings are classified as level 1 and then end with level 6, or Heading 1 through Heading 6.
Level 1 is the highest level and is a requirement for all pages - because of this requirement, in CMS4Schools, the Page Title is your Heading 1.
Higher numbers indicate subsections. Even if your page is all one "section", we still strongly recommend the use of Heading 2 on every one of your pages. This can be at the very top of the page, or after a short amount of content, but it should be quite near the top of the page.
Heading 2 is a sectional header, and if your page is all one type of content or one section, should only be used once. If your page content has different sections, then you can use mutliple heading 2s. For level 3 or below, those are subheadings and likely should be repeated on your page. Be sure that the hierarchy makes sense and do not skip a level (do not go from a Heading 3 to Heading 6, for example).
In the example below, we use bullets only to help demonstrate a well-structured hierarchy:
Heading level 2
Heading level 3
Heading level 3
Heading level 4
Heading level 4
Heading level 3
Or another example might look like this:
Heading 2
Heading 3
Heading 4
Heading 5
Heading 6
Heading 6
Heading 4
Heading 5
Heading 3
